Training our employees: The Human Resource Development Fund
Managed by Malaysia’s Ministry of Human Resources, the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) is a pool of funds that consists of Human Resources Development Levies collected from employers of the manufacturing and service sectors. The aim of HRDF is to develop quality human capital and to build a world-class workforce to support Malaysia’s vision of becoming a high-income economy.

As an employer registered with the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB), GCB Cocoa is entitled to training grants to defray all or a major portion of the costs incurred in employee training.

As of August 2020, we have claimed almost RM 43,000 of training expenses for staff in Malaysia from the HRDF in 2020. The training involved 14 different courses- from Tax Planning and Business Finance to Food Handler Training and Forklift Operators and Safety Training – for employees across various departments in GCB Cocoa. This enabled GCB Cocoa employees to gain a deeper knowledge of their areas of expertise and expand their horizons beyond their existing focus at work to explore new areas of interest. We will continue to encourage more staff to take part in training courses to increase employee productivity and foster a positive organizational culture.
